My youngest son's
sixteenth birthday today. Sixteen! Wow! A very short time ago I was holding
his wrinkled little body in my hands while the maternity nurse checked him
out. Now he has hair down his back and wears strange clothes. It's just like
looking in a magic mirror that reflects back through the decades. Anyway,
I'm taking him out for a shopping expedition (since I have no idea what to
buy him) and a meal.
The stage version of "in the
beginning" has just been taken up by a theatre group in Rainhill, to be
performed in October as part of their own One-Act-Play festival. I have also
auditioned for a part in one of the other plays (since I didn't get a part
in Les Miserable - thanks Cliff!). I'm still waiting to hear. These
theatrical types are very slow.
Many people
have asked why I am not staging my own play, since theatre groups and
directors have been invited to submit plays to this festival. My answer is,
that if I directed and acted in my own play, I'd be tempted to stage any old
rubbish (I have seen it happen). Another director and theatre group is more
likely to be critical of my work and so, in theory, it should promote better
writing in the future. We'll see.
The sequel to "In the beginning" is under
way. It's called "Where's Abel - a slightly irreverent look at the first
murder" Can you guess what it's about? The title is a bit enigmatic and
difficult to understand, I know. But I'll leave that with you. Anyway, the
first scene is almost complete, with the Great Designer and Great creator
still bickering and blaming each other for the mishaps. Another script that
is not really aimed at the more Christian members of society. I hope to have
this ready for submission into the West Lancs Premiere festival.
I am still trying to get to grips
with a Content Management Software called Typo3. I can get it uploaded to my
web server, but I can't figure out how to create pages. It makes the early
versions of Front Page look positively user friendly. I know I should read
the manual and tutorials, but they all all involve installing a demo website
that I just cannot get to work. If there are any web-nerds out there who
would like to give me a hand, I'd be most grateful. Creating a blog this way
is just so long winded.
Anyway, I've said enough so
I'll bugger off now.
Till next time, this is yours truly signing
off.
