I can't believe it is over a month
since I last wrote in this blog. The thing is, life's been just so hectic of
late.
I was offered a part in one of the plays
being performed in Rainhill come October. It is a comedy consisting of four
monologues glued together by a final scene, in which all characters meet.
It's called "Single Minded" and is a study of four, very different singles.
My character is called Jeff. Now, Jeff is a slightly overweight (no
type-casting there, then), mid forties (stretching my credibility a little)
butcher (ironic given that I have been a vegetarian for nearly
thirty-years). Jeff has tried so hard to find a soul mate, attending singles
weekends, speed dating, etc., and he can't understand why he can't get a
second date - you can't even cover the stamps of the Isle of Man in three
minutes, he explains as he pulls his undersized shirt out of his undersized
trousers.
So rehearsals have taken up a bit of my
time.
Something else that has taken up a good
chunk of time is my NLP course. Now, for the uninitiated, NLP stands for
Neuro-Linguistic Programming and is a study of how our mind is programmed
with certain conditioning and how we can reprogram it. I've done an
introductory course in NLP before and I did sort of think that I wouldn't
learn any more on this first weekend but I had to do it to get on the
practitioners course. Was I wrong! After four days I had learnt more about
NLP than I have in the last ten years. If you want details of the course use
the "Contact me" button at the top.
There are another four of these weekends
to do between now and Christmas, so I'm going to be busy.
Sadly, my writing has taken a bit of a
back seat. I'll have to pull my finger out, though, as the deadline for
submission for the West Lancs Premiere festival is looming.
I've also been busy with my other business interests but
it would be tempting fate to discuss that just now. Safe to say all will be
revealed eventually.
Till next time, this is yours truly signing
off.
